jjalba A-2 Jacket There is some cofusion here. The A-2 jacket was standard issue for all fying personnel. The Jolly Rogers did not exist until 1943, after the 90th BG went Overseas to Australia under the command of Col. Rogers. They were plain brown horsehide. and had no markings at all. The Jolly Rogers Patch and the respective Squaron patches were created and sewn on by the owner. Shops in Sydney and Brisbane Australia had a big trade in this. Many of the best patches were created by Lt.Allan G. Cooper , my co-pilot in the 320th sq. He used the E-6B Navigational Computer Case for the leather. The cases were approx. 6 in. wide and provided one patch fron the front and the other patch from the back. Allan was an artist for the Walt Disney studios and painted the patches with artists oil colors. The were very durable and mine is sill in decent condition after 60 yrs. He did many of our nose art also, notably the bucking bronco "Boise Bronc" on the nose of the B-24 that Major Herter our C.O. flew. Jim Horner Pilot 320th Sq. 1944-45
