Post by Milan Hercut » 30 Nov 2025 0439

Searching for info related to S/Sgt Charles Kormanik of 319th BS, waist gunner/engineer. According to his obituary he was member of Charles W Arnold´s crew and flew with B-24D (41-24074) „Tokyo Express“. Is it correct information?
Thank you
Milan

Serial number 13040290. He was credited (crew credits) of shooting down three enemy planes with one of those as the actual gunner responsible. Sometime planes are attributed to crews because their crew photo was taken in front of it. The Photo Section would set up in front of a plane and take pictures of crews that day that needed their crew picture taken. I checked the squadron book and there are at least 4 crew pictured in fron of Tokio Express. His kill are listed in the attached under Arnold his pilot. This squadron shot down more enemy planes than any other bomb squadron in the Fifth Air Force. If you are interested in more email me direct and i will send more.
