Re: Charles „Chuck“ Kormanik - 319th BS

Serial number 13040290. He was credited (crew credits) of shooting down three enemy planes with one of those as the actual gunner responsible. Sometime planes are attributed to crews because their crew photo was taken in front of it. The Photo Section would set up in front of a plane and take pictur...

Re: Requesting any information on Richard S Cook

I CHECKED THE 380TH and did not find anything. Others in the 5th Air Force with 24s are the 22nd BG, 43rd BG.

Re: Nose art for the "Peli-Can"

Your uncle was in the thick of it and actually went down in 1943. The site should let you email me directly so I can send you information that will make for a very interesting story for you family history. No one in the Fifth Air Force surpassed his combat record.

Re: S/Sgt Ellis Carlson 400th Bomb Squadron

Joe, I have not been in contact with his son Charles in quite a few years but when I did he was still 'Stuck in Lodi' on S Corinth Ave. The key to contacting him if he is still there is that he changed his last name to Old World Karlsson. We worked for years sharing information on Ellis and he has n...

Re: Requesting any information on Richard S Cook

I have checked a post war roster that I have and crew lists and there is no Richard S Cook listed as having served with the 90th Bomb Group. The only Richard Cook was middle initial B and he was a gunner.

Re: The "Peli-Can" of the 319th

The 90th shot down more enemy planes than any other bomb group in the 5th Air Force. The 319th Squadron shot down more enemy planes than any other squadron in the 5th Air force and despite being shot down and lost this crew shot down more than any other bomb crew.

Re: Walter B Haulbosky

Sean I checked the documents that I have and I could not find anything. I did check the index for the Univ of Memphis McWherter Library that has the documents archived that were used on the History of the 90th Bomb group. There were 7 items dated in March, July and August of 1944 and listed Walter a...
