 Hellzapoppin' flew the first mission of the Jolly Rogers, the first daylight strike against Rabaul, the first against Ambon, the first longrange strike against Kendari, and was the first to retire from combat to the States with 950 combat hours to her credit, more than any other plane in the SWPA had at that time. She collected the scalps of seven Zekes and one ship, under the tutelage of Buzzin' Johnny Johnson as celebrated in the Saturday Evening Post. Click HERE for photo. |
