it is noted in wiley's book that the crash site was dicovered on december 1,1947 by an austrialian graves unit.does anyone have which graves unit it was?i can order excerts from their diaries if i knew which one it was.i know that these are held in the collection at the aussie war mueseum under ref#awm52.tim alexander is in the process of writing to get the IDPF for joe minnich.
are their any crewmen from the 319th that were on this raid still around?was there any radio transmissions from YDD before she went down?i noticed from the 3 witness statments and the letter sent to ballou's mother that in the witness statements they don't say how far back YDD fell&smoke was seen on left side of aircraft....in the letter (from the 400th blue form)they say she had fallen back 2000 yards and the engines on left wing were knocked out....were there more witness statements that didn't make it into the MACR?
