hi , if you can get a copy of wiley woods book :legacy ofthe 90th bombarment group, look on page73:target was salamura ,24 planes took off on this mission, weather caused 10 to abort, targets bombed individually were:mcdonalds junction, kela village, komiatum and the isthmus. hell's angel was one of the planes that day that was flying recon from new guinea andnew britian.last message received at 1316 hrs(1:30pm)"seven ship convoys sighted 05 s/163,20 e are attacking" longitude was wrong 153,20 e should have the southeast of cape st. george, new ireland(this would be in the route they would have been flying).NO TRACE OF THE AIRCRAFT OR IT'S CREW WERE EVER FOUND!most of the crew lost were assigned on janurary 9th,1943.fife was a photographer(not a member of crew)co-pilot wasn't part of the regular crew .the orginal pilot&co-pilot were lt. dingley<. kimber. as a side note "toughy" the crew's dog sensed something was wrong and wasn't friendly with anyone for the next several days. aircraft# 41-11903, missing air crew report(MACR)4827. now you can see a crew phot on this web site by going to combat crews and finding dingley and jones(crews are listed by pilot)jones picture has toughy in it! also check out nose art as there are 2 pictures of the plane!
hope i've been of some help
earl
