Hi GARY,
Four engine US Bomber found three days ago about 500 yards offshore Great Barrier Reef north of Cairns, Australia. Badly coral encrusted, main fuselage laying on back under 25 feet of water. Can't determine right now if its a B-17 or B24.
May have been tracking from Northern New Guinea towards Townsville, Iron Range or Charters Towers. Search team trying to find any identifying equipment component plates.
Not one of 323 identified known wrecks in North Queensland area.
Will keep you posted.

Merry Christmas all and a happy New Year.

Denis samin,
AUSTRALIA.
