Hi:
I didn't know your Uncle but there is an article on page 102 of "Legacy of the 90th Bg" Jolly Rogers. "The other 321st plane piloted by 1st Lt Owen Buford did not return. It is believed that it crashed into the mountains 15 miles east of Nadzab. Men on Bird's crew had seen a falsh of light behind them which is believed to have been the crash of Buford's plane. Lost with Buford aboard aircraft number 42-72889 were these nine men:2nd Lt Gerald Hill, 2nd Lt Paul Meyer, 2nd Lt Jack Rosher, T.Sgt Ned Potter, T/Sgt Robert Witt, S/Sgt Julian Miller, S/Sgt James J. Parks , S/Sgt Kenneth Rode and S/Sgt William Turner."
