Actually I'm thinking of selling an A-2 Jacket and all the memorabilia from my deceased step-father (Staff Sgt James Werdell. I’m reluctant to sell to a dealer or put on ebay. This has never been offered for sale before. He was in the 90th Bomber Group, the Black Pirates of the Jolly Rogers. He saw action in New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Western Pacific, Netherlands, and East Indies in World War II. Everything in authentic WWII and in tiptop condition. All original! Leather in soft, supple with not problems, has a worn appearance, stitching ok. From the photos you can see that the jacket has that great classic look of being used in battle.
The jacket (worn in combat) has some painting, his nickname across the back (BURLEY). That was a joke, because he was very skinny. Then on the front, there is painted the symbols of the Black Pirates and the Jolly Rogers, plus his name stenciled. The set would make a great WWII display. This is a museum quality jacket and would be a valuable addition to a collection of aviation memorabilia.

The nomenclature tag is in excellent shape "A.C. Contract Dwg NO. 30-1415 Property Air Force US Army J.A. Dubow Mfg. Co, Chicago Ill Size 34. One cuff is frayed (about 2 inches): Zipper works, with no teeth missing, has pull tab, clip and snaps at the throat are intact and work. The waistband only has 4 small holes, lining has NO tears. The Black Pirate Patch is in excellent shape and could be easily sown back on the jacket.

The miscellaneous stuff includes: dog tags, good conduct medal, PBS video about the Jolly Rogers, both the Jolly Rogers and the Black Pirate books, campaign ribbons, honorable discharge. 50-caliber Jap bullet (partially smashed as if it had hit the plane)

The scrapbook included many picture of Staff Sgt Werdell in the Jacket, with the crew, (names written on the back) USO stars, Bob Hope, Jerry Calona & Carol Landis. Also picture on him in front of nose art of a few different planes: Buck Benny Rides Again; Jini: Honeymoon Express; Miss Kiwanis.

Many pictures available if you want them emailed to you. If you have any questions, please contact me.
