Message No. 362Message:
I am a Polce officer presently stationed at Iron Range - Lockhart River. I will be here for 2 years.
I would like to ask anyone that is interested in sending photos, information, emails, pictures, photocopies, anything or everything etc to me in regards to Iron Range I would be greatly apprieciated.
I will be walking the hills of the old camps, airstrips and areas the US and aussie vets worked and lived over 60years age.
Dont hesitate to notify me if you wish, via email.
As stated in a previous posting I will also be aiming at placing a memorial at Iron Range for all the squadrons, units etc that were here. Can anyone help with this?
The more information I am able to obtain, the more detailed and accurate the information is handed out. The aboriginal youth here at Lockhart are also interested in this era, and I have also found out the local library is in need of this information as it is very lacking.
It is paramount the local aboriginals are well informed of their area, for history and knowledge.
There is also a legend story here, that the aboriginals believe their is large area, possibly in a mountain/cave/or large dugout area with 2 steel doors containing alot of american equipment. Can anyone remember this?? at Iron Range or is it a myth, or was it buried over by tons of dirt???
I would be willing to do up and information booklet for the Lockhart youth/community, if you are able to provide any information on Iron Range.
Pleas email me, if you may be of nay assistance. Email ;
