90th Bomb Group Message Board
Message No. 360Message:
My husband's grandfather, Dennis (Ray) Hassell, passed away 2 years ago. He never talked about his years in WWII, so the family does not know much about his military service beyond his serving as a pilot in the 5th air force, I believe in the 90th bomb group, as I have a picture of him standing by the tail of his plane numbered '435'. I also have a picture of him next to the nose art on a plane, which says "Micki". I am not sure if the nose art matches the number and the two pictures are of the same plane. The only additional information I have is that he was involved in the liberation of the Phillipines.
I am hoping someone might be able to help me identify the nose art and/or number of the plane so I can figure out what squadron/bomb group he might have been in as I am not having any luck identifying either in the sources I have access to.
Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Bonnie, I would LOVE the pic of MICKI, this is a complete new one for me. Haven't got 44-42435 on my list either. If there's enough showing might be able to place MICKI. Regards Pete
