Message:
One day, my new boyfriend from the MINN and WI area came to meet my parents. This was a few years ago. I lived in PA. My dad displays war pictures on the walls, basically so he doesnt accidentally throw them away (like he did with some). My boyfriend is a pilot so he was interested in all the pictures. Guess what! He said, "Hey, I know this man on the wall!" My dad said "Oh, thats Dick Bong". Boyfriend said it was Major Richard Bong to us. Major Bong was a WWII ace with 40 kills and was born in Superior, WI. My father knew him well from New Guinea when he flew to protect the bombers. Boyfriend tells all his friends back in MINN/WI that his future father-in-law knew Major Bong personally. I do go through the lists of names here at the site with my dad. If he knows anyone, I will respond.
